What we do in China

European Wood provides knowledge and technology to relevant Chinese government ministries including the Ministry of Construction, Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and Ministry of Public Security Fire Bureau and timber building code committees who draft timber structure codes. The objective is to eliminate technical barriers and to develop building codes and standards for the benefit of using wood in building and construction in China.

We achieve our goals by transferring technology and ideas to more specifiers from architects, engineers, developers, manufacturers, suppliers, scholars and students through conferences, seminars, training programs, study tours, handbooks and publication to exchange experiences and give information for legislation and standards in favor of wood.

European Wood promotes comfortable and efficient building systems based on the benefits of using wood and wood products from European sustainable forestry. We especially focus on engineered wood construction (such as GlulamCLT, LVL, etc), building envelope (partition wall plus wooden roof) and hybrid construction (concrete structure combined with timber structure), multi storey and high-rise wood constructions.

Europe is the leading supplier in the world for high quality sawn and planed wood, engineered wood like glue-laminated wood, cross-laminated timber and laminated-veneer lumber . Wood products from Europe are being marketed to more than 100 countries in the world. The European wood industry not only has extensive know-how in the production of a vast variety of wood products and an enormous flexibility in adapting products to local requirements but also in the logistics process. Wood products from Europe meet the highest quality standards and are certified by most European institutional and governmental bodies. While prices for other materials have been extremely volatile in the past decades, prices for wood products have been extremely stable.
